I bet you have been wondering where I have been lately? If any of you have seen the movie Rat Race (corny comedy about 15 years old), then you may be familiar with the quote “Good things happen over time, but great things happen all at once.”
Well let me tell you, great things are happening!!
Over the course of a three-month time period my husband and I have gone through the following experiences.
- Purchased an orchard
- Purchased a new house in a new town
- Sold a home
- Remodeled our new home
- Had a baby!!! Yes you read that right 🙂
- Moved into our new home within 2 weeks of having a newborn
- Went a little crazy!!
- I think it is safe to say that I have been a little preoccupied.
So why did I wait to tell you all of my exciting news?
To be honest I was not ready to share what was going on in my life because I was still trying to process it all. Dealing with so many life changes at once (plus pregnancy hormones 🙂 ) was a little overwhelming. It was scary jumping from a place of comfort in my life into the great unknown. Why rock the boat? My baby girl is now seven weeks old and we have lived in our new town for one month. It is safe to say I have been loving all the changes (except for the sleepless nights 🙂 ) and looking forward to what the future may hold.
One thing I have learned in the process is that my mind can either be my biggest ally or my worst enemy. We are often fearful of change, but once you embrace change beautiful things can happen.
So what does all of this have to do with nutrition? It doesn’t! Well, I could twist the idea of embracing change around and discuss New Year’s resolutions or making small changes in your life, but I am not.
Instead, I want to inform you on how my website is going to change and what I will be discussing. As you can tell from this blog post, I plan on getting more personal in my blogs. Yes, I will still write my occasional nutrition post but it will also include reflections of life on the farm, whole food recipes, maybe some mommy posts and hopefully some farming info. At some point I will create another website domain to post my blog, but I just don’t have the time or patience to do that right now with a newborn in the house 🙂 Sometimes I get hung up on how to pursue project in the right order and I end up never pursuing the actual project. I decided it was better to start writing and I will figure out the rest out later. I have been hemming and hawing over a new domain name…. Any suggestions? Some ideas I have so far are….
- Nutritionist Gone Farmer
- Hogsback Living (I live on Hogsback Road)
- Nutritionist Goes Farming
- Please give me your suggestions!!
I am sure you have lots of questions such as, “Do you even know how to farm?” The short answer is “No. Haha” but I plan on answering these questions in future blog posts. There is so much going on and I want to give each gritty detail the attention it deserves. For now I have to go because my baby girl is waking up and I am in a Starbucks using the internet because I don’t have the internet at my house (Haha! More on that later 🙂 ). In the meantime here are some pictures to give you an idea of what I am up to.
Until next time,
